Witnesses have stated that the wave was halfway\nup the tower of the Grape and Olive. \nEmergency Services are at the scene, over to our reporter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Reporter at scene<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe giant\nwave hit land around one thirty this afternoon. \nOystermouth Road took the brunt of the water along with the marina\nresidences. Many are feared to have\ndrowned due to the force of the water. \nSome residents have been stranded in their top floor flats, the\nelectricity supply is off and it will be some time before the full extent of\nthe damage is known.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n News reporter<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDo any of\nthe scientists have an explanation why this has happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reporter at scene<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere was\na lot of talk about global warming but that has been ruled out. They have stated that this was a one off\nrogue wave. They have not been able to\ndeny that it could have been a result of wave reinforcement, which is many\nwaves joining together. This means that\nthe resulting wave would combine all the heights from crest to trough into one\nbig massive wave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n News Reporter<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll\ntraffic in the Swansea area has been diverted via the M4, do we know when that\ndiversion will end?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reporter at scene<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf you\nlook at the devastation behind me, it will probably take months to sort out. The\ntarmac has been ripped up and deposited in the guesthouses.
