{"id":83,"date":"2019-10-27T09:55:24","date_gmt":"2019-10-27T09:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swanseawriterscircle.co.uk\/blog\/?p=83"},"modified":"2019-11-16T10:07:48","modified_gmt":"2019-11-16T10:07:48","slug":"rogue-wave-causes-havoc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swanseawriterscircle.co.uk\/blog\/rogue-wave-causes-havoc\/83\/","title":{"rendered":"Rogue Wave Causes Havoc"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\ninterrupt this programme for a newsflash.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>News reporter<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNews has\njust come in of a giant wave hitting Swansea beach.&nbsp; Witnesses have stated that the wave was halfway\nup the tower of the Grape and Olive.&nbsp;\nEmergency Services are at the scene, over to our reporter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Reporter at scene<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe giant\nwave hit land around one thirty this afternoon.&nbsp;\nOystermouth Road took the brunt of the water along with the marina\nresidences.&nbsp; Many are feared to have\ndrowned due to the force of the water.&nbsp;\nSome residents have been stranded in their top floor flats, the\nelectricity supply is off and it will be some time before the full extent of\nthe damage is known.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>News reporter<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDo any of\nthe scientists have an explanation why this has happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Reporter at scene<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere was\na lot of talk about global warming but that has been ruled out.&nbsp; They have stated that this was a one off\nrogue wave.&nbsp; They have not been able to\ndeny that it could have been a result of wave reinforcement, which is many\nwaves joining together.&nbsp; This means that\nthe resulting wave would combine all the heights from crest to trough into one\nbig massive wave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>News Reporter<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll\ntraffic in the Swansea area has been diverted via the M4, do we know when that\ndiversion will end?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Reporter at scene<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you\nlook at the devastation behind me, it will probably take months to sort out.
