For years there had
been premonitions of what was to come. Scientists had proof that the
temperatures were rising, the sea levels were rising due to the receding ice at
the poles.

There had been programmes telling us, and satellites showing
us but nothing had been done. Governments were unwilling to force change and
definitely against putting any money into avoiding the impending catastrophe.

Earthquakes, tsunamis, and avalanches happened in other
places, not Britain, not Wales!!

When it did happen, we had very little warning, I think our
all powerful leaders decided to avoid any inevitable panic.

It was very strange, definitely not normal, eerie in fact. I
am always out walking, love nature and wildlife, taking photos when I can.
However, for about a week there was no birdsong, not even from the raucous
seagulls. There was no wind in the trees and it all felt very uncomfortable,
like to earth was waiting for something.

When the warning did come most people headed up Kilvey Hill,
being the nearest highest place. I have been up there many times and always
loved the view across the bay down to Mumbles.

Looking at that same view now was terrifying. There was
nothing to see, no Mumbles at all, not a building left apart from the roofs of
some of the higher rise flats in Swansea. The highest buildings in Swansea are
the Post Office Tower and the Meridian Quay Tower, and to look over and see
these buildings and only these buildings was very shocking. Some people were
crying, some were panicking but mostly their faces were shocked just like mine.

What will it look like when the water recedes, or even if it
does recede. Will we still have homes to go back to. If our homes are ruined,
all we will have is the clothes we are standing up in, all our so important
belongings will be gone.

We can only wait and see, and in the meantime hope and pray
that our families and friends made it out in time.

To be honest we had had enough warnings.
