{"id":623,"date":"2020-10-25T11:52:41","date_gmt":"2020-10-25T11:52:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swanseawriterscircle.co.uk\/blog\/?p=623"},"modified":"2020-10-25T11:52:48","modified_gmt":"2020-10-25T11:52:48","slug":"lockdown-entertainment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swanseawriterscircle.co.uk\/blog\/lockdown-entertainment\/623\/","title":{"rendered":"Lockdown Entertainment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cWhat shall we do now Mummy?\u201d Claire, my six-year-old daughter asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c Yes, what shall we do now?\u201d Her brother Andrew asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI know\u201d I said, let\u2019s Skype Granny, and ask her what she use to do when she was a little girl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoring\u201d stated Andrew, \u201c it will all be girls stuff anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOkay, well let Claire ask Granny and you ask Grandpa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pleased with myself for remembering things from my childhood that did not include the use of computers, I eagerly awaited my parents\u2019 response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer was not what I had expected or hoped for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGranny told us to watch \u201cYou Tube.\u201d&nbsp; I grabbed the laptop off my son and sort clarification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMum, I am trying to wean them off their computers, not use them more.&nbsp; I wanted you to tell them about what you did for entertainment in the good old days, before computers and mobile phones were invented.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRemember those dancing paper dollies you used to love, well all the tutorials are on You Tube.&nbsp; You used to spend hours cutting them out of newspaper. You can use the same method to cut other things out, even dinosaurs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI see, my mum knows more about computers than I do,\u201d I laughed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are lessons in just about everything, give it a go, you will not be disappointed, hours of entertainment at your fingertips.&nbsp; Make sure you have lots of craft things ready, I\u2019m addicted to making greeting cards myself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThanks Mum, I\u2019ll give it a go, anything for a quieter life, give my love to Dad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An hour later, Claire had already decided on at least ten projects and she had found an \u2018Easy Cooking for Children video\u201d.&nbsp; Andrews list was even longer. &nbsp;&nbsp;It was decided that we would work through each project together so that we could help each other.
