\u201cI presume so, I don\u2019t really know, the fact of the matter is that we\u2019ve split up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOo, sorry to hear that, trust me to put my foot in it.  How you coping then, fancy a drink?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat would be great Ange.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll get these, you still on the red wine?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Yes please, could I be cheeky and ask for a large one?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOf course you can luv, you look like you need it.  Two large red wines and two packets of cheese and onion crisps please.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, not another woman, but the break up was about his first love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you saying he\u2019s left you and gone off with a bloke?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo Ange, his first love, don\u2019t you remember what I told you about his guitar.  He fell in love with it the moment he saw it in the music shop, practically drooled all over the window.  It took him months to save up to buy it. Remember me saying that he almost slept with it?  I soon put a stop to that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo you mean Betty Boop?  I always thought that was a crazy name for him to give his guitar.  Is she still around?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe never left, she is the permanent feature in his life, that was part of the problem.  It sounds crazy but he loves that guitar more than he has ever loved me.  He lavishes care on it, cleans her every night, but I ask him just to put the hoover around, he takes the huff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, where are you living now?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got my old bedroom back at my mum\u2019s, it\u2019s not ideal though.  She keeps on coming in without knocking and offering me endless cups of tea.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI remember that about your mum\u2019s, kettle always on the boil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been really difficult going back, I didn\u2019t realise quite how much I valued my independence, and do you know what, I really miss that guitar, how stupid is that.  I had been thinking of Betty Boop as my nemesis, having to share Mick with her.  I can\u2019t believe that I was so jealous.  Maybe life was better as a threesome than what I\u2019ve got now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
