He had the look of the converted, his eyes shining at the thought of a wealthy life for all, poor boy. I should really keep my thoughts to myself but that man was dangerous, all his talk fantasy to lure the youngsters in.

”My Mam told me about a guy who broadcast during the war; his name was Lord Jaw Jaw . The broadcasts sound very similar to that man, only he was trying to get us to surrender promising he would make us all a wonderful life under Titler. ”

Shaking his head, Aldo strode ahead, his shoulders hunched, agitated at my reaction. Watching him, all six feet, his slim build and longish dark hair the image of his mother, my heart reached out to his innocence.

As I bustled about in the kitchen, making a bit of tea for us both, Aldo slouched on the table sighing. Quietly he ate his food, glancing every so often with hurt in his eyes. Going into the lounge he went to switch on the television. I stopped him

”Aldo, I know you’re upset with me but let me give you my take on politics. Please, just hear me out.”

He nodded in agreement.

”Politics to me is one big circus. You have the clowns causing chaos, the acrobats jumping through the clowns’ hoops. Then there’s the tightrope walker inching along the high wire with no safety net, large black bears clanging their cymbals while eyeing up the horses trotting around. Add lions and camels all into the mix. But do you know what’s missing: a ringmaster, and maybe an elephant wise and calm to bring order to the chaos.”

Laughing, Aldo lay back in the chair.

”Who are you going to vote for, Nan?”

”I know who to vote for, the raving looney party.”

Choking back his laughter, he asked why.

”Well at least they are honest about themselves.”

Both of us were giggling, our world back to normal even if he thinks I’m nuts!!

Walking out of the town hall Aldo turned to me: ”Nan, isn’t Alan Parson wonderful.
