Strange\nthings started happening in our estate. People started waking up to find\nenvelopes stuffed with money on their doormats with a message ‘ENJOY’. \n <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ours\nwasn’t a posh estate but a bog standard council estate, lots people elderly or\nunemployed families living on the breadline. So any money was a godsend to most\nof them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Local\ncharities were having anonymous donations of thousands of pounds, hospitals\ngetting new equipment again, anonymously. Local school were having computers\ninstalled, again nobody knew from who.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I called\nin to see Albert to fill him in on the goings on. He was sitting in his usual\narmchair with Barney, his faithful companion on his lap. He listened quietly to\nme jabbering on. \u201cDid you get anything Albert?\u201d not mentioning the wad of cash I\u2019d\ngot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
”Aye a\nbit, might go to Blackpool soon for a few days. There’s a hotel there I can\ntake Barney with me.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waiting\nwhile Albert went to fetch his shopping list and his usual lottery <\/p>\n\n\n\n
money,\nmade me laugh. Poor old guy had done the lottery for years and never won a\nthing aside from the odd tenner. Told him he was wasting his money, but\nwould he listen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Albert left some weeks later for\nBlackpool. Strange thing was removers went in and emptied his flat. Thought the\nold guy must have died or something. Some days later I received a phone call\nfrom Albert. I asked him what was going on, thought you\u2019d died or something .He\nthen explained he\u2019d only gone and won the jackpot in the lottery, SIX MILLION\nhe’d won, only gone and bought a hotel in Blackpool, had himself a\npenthouse in the hotel and it catered for dogs, told me I’d be welcome any time.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
