I just had to get away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new town, a fresh start, I could only hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I picked up a job quickly and began to settle down.&nbsp; My jangled nerves were slowly uncurling with each passing day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It took him six weeks to find me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I awoke one morning to find a note on the doormat. Things started to spiral out of control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>I lost my job.&nbsp; My bruised face didn\u2019t make it easy finding another one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;My landlady threw me out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want any trouble makers around here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I moved on, but he always found me.&nbsp; It was uncanny, it was as if he had a trace on my DNA. I was running out of places to hide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I ended up in Alaska, and it was there I met Sally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was as if I had known her all my life.&nbsp; She was the only one I really opened up to about my twin brother.&nbsp; It was still painful for me to recall that awful day when he died. After we\u2019d spoken, I felt as if a great burden had been lifted even though my guilt was still there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Months past and there was no sign of my tormentor. &nbsp;At last, I thought, I was finally free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn\u2019t to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I woke up to find that Sally had gone.&nbsp; Her pillowcase was covered in blood, and there were bruises all over my knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A hammering on the door jolted me upright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPolice, open up!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was arrested for assault and questioned for hours.&nbsp; I wanted to see Sally, but she didn\u2019t want to see me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;I had no recollection of hitting her, or ever even having any harsh words with her.&nbsp; She had been my soul mate and now I\u2019d never get her back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I just knew he was responsible somehow, but the police were not interested in a ghost hunt.&nbsp; I was sent for psychiatric testing and kept in a room handcuffed to an old iron bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;I was considered a danger to society and received a sentence of six years, partly due to me pleading not guilty rather than accepting what I had allegedly done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was alone in my cell just before lights out when I heard his voice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI promised I\u2019d get you Lewis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I turned around quickly and saw his angry face in the mirror.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was an accident, I didn\u2019t mean to kill you,\u201d I screamed at his face. \u201cYou took my life, now I\u2019m taking yours.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cI\u2019ll get you Lewis!
